Uh. So. I obviously haven't posted anything in what.... Months now? And I have this app on the homepage of my phone-- right next to animal crossing. You'd think my brain would get the hint but apparently not lol. That's ADHD for you I guess. Anyway. I guess I'm finally back with art because quarentine fucking sucks! And also I'm bored.
Anyway. Have an art piece that I'm going to eventually redo and a way too long personal ramble about why I made it! I'm sorry in advance and I hope you like it!
[Image Description: A picture of a painting in a sketchbook. The painting is of the pride flag rainbow. In large letters that are mostly done in brown paint, it reads "The RAINBOW is for ALL of us." The colours of the letters on "RAINBOW" are the colour of the rainbow, and the letters of the word "ALL" are red, green, and orange respectively. End of Image Description.]
Anyway. A bit about this piece!
It was inspired in part because of a Tumblr post i saw (I cannot for the life of me figure out who posted it and where bit the message was the same) and in part out of my own complicated relationship with the rainbow flag. As a transgender, nb, aroace LGBTQIAP+ person, i don't always feel a connection to it? I mean, i know it's meant to be an umbrella flag for the entire LGBTQIAP+ community but i don't feel represented by it, y'know?
Probably because the only times it's ever really used is in the context of mlm and wlw and just.... alloro gay people in general? And because that's what people mean and support when they have the rainbow flag, and I feel pretty.... Invisible. I dunno it's complicated and has to do with my feelings of alienation from the broader LGBTQIAP+ community. So i made this to 1) get my feelings out and 2) to potentially help out people who feel similarly.
Anyway. That's my long and unasked for personal ramble on the rainbow flag and why i painted this. Sorry you had to read through it.
Until next time, may my Imaginary readers have all the luck in the stars!
